Happy New Year!!
So, I went out for the first time in 32 years on New Year's Eve. Well, there was this one time when I was twenty and I snuck out of home--but that doesn't really count because I wasn't out long enough to have a real party.
Every year, my husbands says, why bother going out, it never works out on New Year's Eve. People have just too many expectations and everyone is always trying too hard. Well, he can talk; he went out and partied in his youth.
This year I booked an evening at a small cafe in Odense, where we usually go when we're visiting my husband's parents, who baby-sit the boys. Franck A is sort of an Odense institution. It's cozy and charming...and very, very Danish.
For New Year's Eve it was a closed party...there were about a 100 people there. The three-course meal was elegant; the drinks as always good, the wine went well with the food (I wouldn't really know because I was driving and therefore not drinking), the music excellent and the evening perfect.
My husband and I were back to his parents' house by 1 a.m. We couldn't even talk to each other once midnight struck and the music went from conversation-friendly to one of those scream-in-my-ear-to-be-heard kinds of deals.
I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve and I hope you have a marvellous 2007!!
